Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-a) is a factor that enhances the ability of vascular endothel to adhere lymphocyte cell in its cytotoxic activity. It is extremely difficult to get a guinea pig model to be used in simulating the disease afflicting man. Vascular leakage due to enhancement of capilarry permeability leads to a presumption that endothelial cell plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and or Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS).
