Mercury is the only liquid metal, silverly; with original name of Hydrargyrum, Hg (Greek). In medicine, it is used as an antiseptic, i.e. mercury chloride, and mercurochrome liquid which are used to protect wound from becterial or fungicidal infection. However, its use is prohibited and stopped because it is toxic to human health. The effect of mercury on human body depends upon mercury metal, organic mercury compounds, and inorganic mercury compounds. Organs that can be damage are central nervous system, brain, liver and kidneys. It might cause a genetic mutation, or death.
