Isi artikel
This article addresses concepts of secrecy and specialized knowledge, and the ways they can result in social and supernatural power in traditional West African Mande society. It will examine the language used by the Mande to describe their beliefs about secret knowledge that leads to power, and the language used to manipulate situations in which such knowledge and power is brought into play. It will also focus on particular types of art objects and events in which secret knowledge plays prominent roles.
