This paper provides a framework for discussing sequences of events as narrated in Comanche (telling order) and sequences of events as they are alleged to have occurred (happening order). A number of mechanisms at times reinforce and at times disturb the expected one-to-one temporal relationship. While these mechanisms can be catalogued, a true understanding of their use by narrators is currently lacking.
