Isi artikelThe paper tests Poplack's (1979) free morpheme and equivalence constraints on Adã?me-English code-switching. It is noted that there are major differences in the tactics employed in the two data bases. It is suggested that a universal theory of code-switching would need to look beyond mere linguistic behavior and examine the socio/political environments of the code-switchers.
