Isi artikelThe authors had the task of evaluating an innovative style of exhibition in the Royal Museums of Scotland. Believing in the principle (established by the Gothenberg Group) that learning must be studied from the viewpoint of the learner, the authors sought a practicable technique of formative evaluation which would give illuminative insights into experience. Retaining the tools of questionnaire and interview to provide baseline data on reported experience and opinion, they applied Kagan's technique of Interpersonal Process Recall (structured video recall) to gain direct insight into the experience of visitors to the exhibition. This account explains how the technique suited this purpose, and describes the modifications found necessary to classic IPR for this context.
