| The interpretation of the verses of pancasila, as a functional ideology that specifies Indonesian common goods and as a system of justfication (structural ideology), is often incompatible with the objectives of the state to protect, to educate, to make prosperius and to give peace and justice for all citizens. The interpretation is often reflection of the masculine way of thinking that it becomes gender biased. It has not yet been the case that the interpretation has reached women for the sake of equality. The interpretation also does not provide grounds for social inclusion, that is the main condition for promoting democracy by enhancing women's representatives. It also suffers for disparity of social capital that inhibits women empowerment. Such interpretation has alienated women from their dignity by treating pancasila as a vehicle and tools of patriarch system to deceive, to repress and to oppress women. In this sense, both pancasila and women have experienced marginalization. Pancasila as a public morality is just as powerless as women so that it needs empowerment. The ultimate political challenge for women today is how to interpret pancasila in women's perspectives. |
