Liver cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease that causes portal hypertension. One of the serious complications of this condition is variceal bleeding that always become a cause of death of the patients. The pathogenesis of liver cirrhosis is depended on many factors, and the important one is the inflammation process. Releasing of inflammation-mediators will stimulate formation of fibrotic tissues and other extracellular matrix components.
