Zingiber officinale volatile oil theoretically can be developed for the treatment of human elephantiasis inman. Before that idea can be realized some pharmocodynamic studies on smooth muscle organs and its teratogenic effect have to be done. Pharmacodynamic study was performed in isolated trachea, atria, aorta and uterus. Study of teratogenic effect was done in female pregnant rat, and the treatment were performed by giving Zingiber officinale volatile oil orally.
