Isi artikelThe tropical cyclones occured over Indian Ocean in southern and southwestern part of Indonesia Maritime Continent (IMC) about 46 and 26 times February and March 2008 period, respectively. These results based on the TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) satellite observation, during February and March 2008 periods. The tropical cyclones that occur over southern and southwestern of IMC in February 2008 are 12 modes and it's appeared as much as 46 times. The 12th modes of the tropical cyclones are 90 S, 92 S, 93 S, 94 S, 98 S, 99 S, 17 S, 18 S, Gula, Hondo, Ivan and Nicholas. For the March 2008 period over the same region occured 8 modes of tropical cyclones which appear as much as 26 times. The 8th of the tropical cyclones are Ophelia, Jokwe, Kamba, Lola, Pancho, 94S, 97S, and 99S. Simultaneously, newspaper and television informed that during February and March 2008 period appeared a high seawave above 3 metres over parts of Sunda Strait, south of Kalimantan Sea, Makassar Strait, Bali Strait, Lombok Strait, Flores Sea, south of Sulawesi Sea, Sawu Sea, and Timor Sea. In the same period, strong wind (referred to also as "puting beliung wind') also happened over most of Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumba, Sumbawa, and Flores land. Connection between tropical cyclone occurrences over southern and southwestern of IMC during February and March 2008 and high seawave and strong wind, have not seen established quantitavely, but qualitavely they shows significantly correlation, especially for the tropical cyclones Hondo, Ivan and 17 S (in February 2008 period) and Pancho (in March 2008 period).
