The application of the loop transfer recovery (LTR) technique to design Davison type integral controllers for time-delay plants is discussed. Unlike the standard LQG problems, the feedback property achieved by the LTR procedure for the plant output side is not obvious. For the formal LTR procedure using a quadratic performance index, the explicit representation of the asymptotic sensitivity matrix is obtained. The representation is used to find the target of the LTR. The target is identified as a prediction observer including integrators. The result gives clear system-theoretic meaning to the formal LTR procedure for the plant output side.
