Isi artikel
When asked what his greatest contribution to mathematics was, Professor G. H. Hardy said that it was the discovery of number theorist Srinivasa Ramanujam. Professor Hardy was not simply being witty and modest; he was also making the general point that an academic's contributions should not be judged only by his/her own writings, but also by his/her in¯uence on others, directly or indirectly. In this obituary I shall therefore not only discuss Professor Leontief's own path-breaking contribution to economics, but also how his lead stimulated numerous others including at least six Nobel Laureates in economics. However, I start with a very brief discussion of his life.
