Isi artikelThe stud aimed to know the effect of the implementation of inquiry-based learning to promote students' ability in writing a story in English. In the short case study that used one group only design the teacher-researcher learnt from first-hand experience how her students approached the task. The students were engaged in authoring process and they took a writer's perpective to complete the task. They were challenged to use the task as a tool for thinking and communicating as they planned, wrote their drafts, and reflected on their efforts and finished products. The study shows that with the re-creation of learning context, the students experienced authoring process and authentic learning, and developed their critical thinking skill. The findings tell us that they managed to produce stories which describe how the character(s) they created attempted to solve their problem(s) dealing with communication technology.
