The paper presents one methodology of the controller design for unstable first and second order time delay systems. The method is based on a first order Padé approximation of the time delay term. The 2DOF control configuration is considered. To derive of controllers, the polynomial approach and LQ control technique is used. The procedure yields a class of CT controllers ensuring setpoint tracking as well as load disturbance attenuation. The resulting controllers obtained via polynomial Diophantine equations and spectral factorization technique are stable ones. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the proposed method.
