A methodological approach to formulate a control problem into an LMI constrained optimization one is proposed in this paper. With this approach, many temporal and frequency specifications can be translated into objectives and constraints explicitly without any conservatism. Moreover, generated problems are efficiently tractable even for a large number of parameters and constraints. This formulation uses Q-parameterization of the stable closed loop set. To manage an infinite dimensional parameter, a straightforward functional basis derived from piecewise linear approximation theory is used.
