Isi artikelSemarang has seven industrial areas which support their economic activities. The movements of goods from and to those industrial areas are depended on trucks. These movements create certain routes which spread to diverse directions, yet mostly are going to the center business districts. This preliminary study is to identify patterns of freight transportation in Industrial Zones in Semarang. The research found that the patterns of movements are influenced by the location of Industrial Zones. In Semarang, the movements of freight transportation create a “sprawl-pattern” however they do not bring about a big impact on the traffic flow of the main roads in the Industrials Areas. For instances, the mobility of trucks from Terboyo Industrial Zones is only amounted up to 1,6 percent of the total mobility of trucks in that area. The following data also give similar phenomena such as Bugangan Baru Small-scale Industrial Zones contributed for 2,1 percent, Candi Industrial Zones added 3,1 percent, Tugu Tjokrohandoko Industrial Zones resulted in 2,5 percent, BSB Industrial Zones even contributed for only 0,05 percent and finally Tugu Wijayakusuma Industrial Zones added 1,2 percent of the total mobility of trucks in the respective areas.
