A Multi-rate sampled-data system is a hybrid system, which involves continuous–time and discrete-time signals. The plant is a continuous-time LTI system where as the controller is composed of ADC (samplers), a digital computer and DAC (holds). In this paper, the focus of the analysis is both on the optimal rejection of bounded persistent disturbances as well as on the robust stability properties. The solution is based on lifting method, where an equivalent LTI system is obtained for the given periodic multi-rate problem. The causality constraint on the controller structure in lifting based solutions is automatically satisfied [1,4,7]. The necessary and sufficient conditions for stability in the presence of unstructured perturbations in the feedback loop of periodic systems can be achieved by considering the same problem for the equivalent lifted system. Exactly the same analysis holds when we encounter the robustness problem for multi-rate systems.
