The regional stability and stabilization for descriptor systems will be investigated in this paper. First, linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach will be adopted here to obtain some necessary and sufficient conditions for the regional stability of descriptor systems. Then, the regional stabilization will be tackled and some necessary and sufficient conditions will be obtained based on the stability results. The technique used here is the inverse transform, which can transform the infinite poles of singular systems to finite one. In this paper, some special regions such as circular region and sector region will be investigated separately due to their importance. Finally, some numerical examples are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the main results.
