The rapid development of urban areas in Indonesia has sreated its own spatial and economic problems. One of the basic problems is the growth of big cities which dominate their surrounding medium and small ones, which has brought such economic problems as imbalance growth of workforces and job opportunities. The objectives of this paper is to study the spatial and economic problems related to the development of the urban areas in Indonesia and find out their solution.
