Reports the results of a survey, funded by the British Library, Research and Development Department, of systems librarian posts in UK libraries. Questionnaires were sent to 503 UK public, academic and other libraries, between October and December 1992, to determine the activities of systems librarians and the nature of the employing organizations. Reports on the survey findings concerning what systems librarians actually do, the kinds of stress they are exposed to, and the rewards of the job.
