Education is a must for children. Moral education is important because related to rules and convention about how human interact with other people. For children, it will be appeared on their character. This study aims to explain how the family building their children characters, using quantitative descriptive research and purposive sampling technique. The 58 participants, who are the families having 6 – 12 years old children, located at TI RW 04, Waru, Sidoarjo. This paper reports that there is a variation in which how parents teach moral knowledge, moral situation, honesty, responsibility, self-respect and self-control, perspective taking, moral reasoning, decision making, and self-knowledge. There are five ways: giving advices, story telling, activity, behavior model, and parents support. The suggestion provides parents various ways to teach moral knowledge. For the next study,it is important to enlarge the participants and find another character building component.
