Isi artikel
The reformers of the 1890’s asked how one could say one had learnt a foreign language when one could not understand or be understood by a native speaker. By 1911, the president of a European foreign language teachers’ organization was telling teachers ’Make your classroom a little Italy, a little England’. Since then, we have seen many expressions of a wish to make classroom work realistic. We may think of making situations realistic, making utterances realistic, and making learners feel realistic intentions in their use of utterances in a situation. The basis for all three realisms is observational. However, there are problems with the observation.
