Isi artikelFollowing the secondment of two public librarians to the Department of Library and Information Studies, Loughborough University of Technology, the academic staff of the department and relevant staff from the library authority were interviewed about their attitudes to such secondments. Reactions were generally favourable, though several problems were highlighted. The acceptability of such secondments was affirmed as a means of involving practitioners more closely with the education of young professionals, and of improving awareness within the profession of the educative process Recommendations are made for the organization of future secondments, based on the experience of those directly involved.
