The study shows that the majority of research undertaken and published in the UK since 1970 concentrates on the reading habits of the over 7s (particularly the 10 to 15 age group). Whilst further broadly based research into the reading habits of the under 7s is required, research relating to the over 7s should concentrate on specific issues raised by existing research.
