Abstract
The principal factors determining the extent to which health services and family planning services are or should be integrated at the point where service is directly provided to people are the following: the extent to which the contraceptive technology being used requires the same kinds of skilled manpower and specialized facilities that health services require, the extent to which health services are available in rural areas, the extent to which combination of health services and family planning services most efficiently provide neir combined services, particularly in rural areas, the relative benefits to a given country at a given time of preventing an unwanted birth compared to postponing a death, etc. The implication that seems most certain in the long run is that health services and family planning services will be united.
