Isi artikel
This article is derived from the report of a study carried out by the Centre for Catalogue Research, Bath University, during October to December 1981. The study, which was jointly funded by the British Library Research & Development Department and the British Library Bibliographic Services Division, was of the actual use made of Cataloguing-in-Publication (CIP) data by public and academic libraries in the UK. 90 per cent of the random sample of libraries surveyed made some use of CIP for at least part of their acquisitions and cataloguing functions. Three specific projects studied: the use of CIP entries in BNB for book selection; the use of UK and LC CIP MARC records; the use of CIP data printed in the book.
