| This paper, which was delivered by the Dean of the Medical School, University of Ibadan, to the Professional Association of Trained Nurses of Nigeria, concerns the role of nursing in the Four Year National Development Plan. The plan makes provision for the training of various types of health personnel. The role of the nurse is bound in with that of the other members of the health team. The nurse must adapt to local situations and serve a polyvalent function, moving easily from urban to rural settings. Preventive medicine, health education, and the gathering of accurate morbidity statistics are also given high priority. |
