Sunitinib malate is an oral multi-kinase inhibitor that exhibits potent antiangiogenic and antitumor activity. The activity of sunitinib in renal cell carcinomaand gastrointestinal stromal tumor was confirmed in phase II/III trials, and sunitinib was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of these tumors in 2006.
