Dengue Fever is an emerging disease in tropical and subtropical regions. Dengue viruses, members of the genus Flavivirus and family Flaviviridae, are transmitted principally in a cycle involving mosquitoes (their vectors) and humans. Studies using cluster investigation and factory worker cohort were conducted in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, to demonstrate the epidemiology and pathogenesis of dengue infections. We evaluated several aspects of dengue infections such as the duration of fever, viremia and the kinetics of antibodies in primary and secondary infections as well as in dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. |
