Isi artikelThe background of this contribution is the reconstruction of variables representing effects, e. g. of nonlinearities, disturbances and faults in technical systems. The focus is set to the ‘proportional-integral observer (PIO)’ as a means for reconstruction. This observer is considered a generalization of state, disturbance, non-linearity, coupling and fault-variable observers with internal proportional and integral feedback. Mainly with regard to structure, behaviour and design, the class of PI-observers is described. Some relevant terms are: effect variable, reconstruction system, asymptotic robustness, time-related reconstruction, reconstruction matrix, linear-quadratic design and reconstruction parameters. Some essential applications of this linear observer are exemplified.
