In this paper, the control design for a fast servo system subject to state and control constraints is addressed. Based on the positively invariant set principle and linear quadratic regulation (LQR) method, a new style of switchcontrol law is proposed to deal with the constrained control for a fast servo system. Being applied to a dualstage hard disk drive (HDD) servo system, the proposed method is proved to be more efficient in the case when large noise emerges with comparison of a normal LQ controller.
