Isi artikelThis article is based on a research which assesses the effectiveness of especially-designed-face-to-face-tutorial on Basic Writing Skills course provided by Universitas Terbuka for students of undergraduate Elementary Teacher Education Program registered in Pekalongan residency. Data were collected between March - June 2005 using questionnaire from 39 students. The respondents were drawn using proportionate random sampling based on study groups joined. Results indicate that respondents perceived their tutors to be knowledgeable, punctual, enthusiastic, and conducted the tutorial effectively. The students believed that they have not prepared themselves well for the tutorials even though some mentioned reading learning materials and doing the exercises. However, the respondents believed that they have attended all the tutorial sessions and completed all the assignments.
