One of many factors which influence students’ achievement is media used in learning process. The use of appropriate media could facilitate students to be more focus and motivated. This article discuses how herbarium media, botanical cards, and plant illustration influence students’ mastery in Plant Taxonomy course in Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, National University of Manado. Preliminary review on students’ performance reveals students’ lack of mastery on taxonomy course. Probing into the problems reveals that students found the topic dull and boring. To provide a more active and interesting learning process it is suggested to utilize herbarium media, botanical cards, and plant illustration in taxonomy course. Students could be asked to prepare the media by themselves to be eventually used in their learning process.
