Misconceptions are issues for government, students, and elementary school teachers. This is especially true in physics-chemistry due to its nature of dealing with abstract nature. Students join ed the IPA class usually have preconceptions and experiences that are often contradictory to the accepted physic-chemistry concepts. Such a combination could lead to problems for students as well as for competent teachers. This article examines the existence of misconception on various topics in physic-chemistry, reason of their existence, and teachers' competence. It was found that misconceptions were experienced by both students and teachers for all the observed topics. However, there was no significant correlation between quality of teachers and level of misconception on students. Except for one topic, oxygen are needed for firing.
