This article aims at describing the nature of Competency Base Curriculum (CBC) and its implementation. CBC refers to a curriculum which is developed based on a set of desired competencies and implemented toward the achievement of those competencies. Meanwhile, competency is defined as a set of smart and responsible actions/behavior that are demonstrated by someone as evidence that he or she is competent in a particular area. Those smart and responsible behavior or actions are based on knowledge, skills, and attitudes as the elements of competency. CBC is a systemic and systematic approach that provides curriculum developers and teachers with a set of systematic steps and guidelines in developing and implementing the curriculum. Therefore, in implementing the CBC, the change of attitudes/mind set, for all people who are involved in education, especially for teachers, is a must.
