Isi artikelIn conducting their main professional task, teachers need to master knowledge and skills in articulating the significance of their good teaching-learning activities in corresponding with the truly essence of instruction. This knowledge and skills can be gained through education and training. Therefore, academik performance and teaching experiences will influence the teachers’ working performance.Using partial correlation and multiple correlation analysis, the study concluded that there is a significant correlation between the academic performance index and working performance as Primary School teachers, individually as well as in-group. This conclusion is based on the data and information collected from 34 Primary School teachers who had already completed their D-II Equivalence In- Service Training Program in the Academic Year of 1998/1999. The sample represented the four sub-districts of Malang, namely Klojen, Kedung Kandang, Blimbing, and Sukun. The study recommended (1) the Primary School teachers to self-introspect of her/his capability in managing their teaching-learning interaction; (2) the Primary School headmaster to continuouslly monitor the working performance of her/his supervised teachers; and (3) the related institutions to use academic performance index and teaching experiences as a reference in the recruitment of Primary School teachers (candidates of higher academic performance index and having teaching experiences to be prioritized).
