Isi artikelLearning style is a specific trait of every student which should be considered in the designing of instruction especially in distance education. A survey of learning style of Universitas Terbuka (UT) students has been conducted at 2000 (Julaeha & Andayani, 2002), and repeated in 2003. Based on similar approaches used in the two researches, data from both researches were compared using descriptive analysis method. The 2000 research involved 366 respondents and the 2003 research comprised of 37 respondents. The result shows that the dominant learning style of UT students is visual. There are more kinesthetic learners among exacta students compared to non exacta students. Furthermore, some specific characteristics of respondens and their learning strategies are also described, which should be considered in serving UT students in the process of learning.
