The article discusses the adaptation of the self-directed learning research instrument that was developed by Guglielmino, called the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS). The SDLRS is a well-known instrument in its area of research and has been used by many researchers in the world. In a research conducted by the author, the SDLRS was adapted from the original language, that is English, into Indonesian. This article elaborates the process of adaptation of the instrument. It is expected to help other researchers who are interested in doing such a research and who are in a process of adapting a standardized instrument into local contexts.
