Universitas Terbuka (UT) has been using radio as an instructional medium since 1985. Radio programs have been regularly broadcasted through the national public radio stations (RRI). However, despite its regularity, the broadcasting time allocation for the programs is still considered limited by UT’s students. Another concern for the nationwide broadcasting system of RRI is that the programs are sometimes not clearly received by some students residing in certain areas/ islands. Therefore, it is important for UT to look for an alternative broadcasting collaboration, such as collaboration with local radio stations. In accordance with this, this study is aimed at soliciting information from UT’s regional offices (UPBJJ) and the management of local radio stations on the local broadcasting system collaboration idea, as well as on the willingness of local radio stations to air UT’s radio programs. The result, based on the responses of 31 UPBJJ and 62 local radio stations, indicates positive attitude towards the proposed radio collaboration program.
