Isi artikel
Using Halliday’s ’Relevant Models of Language’ as a basis, this article reports a study undertaken with a 7-year-old girl, exploring her ability to explain language functions. It shows that, where a suitable metalanguage is possessed, a child can make explicit a multi-dimensional view of language; pace Halliday, the child’s repertoire is seen to include a Ritual model.
