Plant of watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris L.) is one belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family which have proved to be perspective developed especially seedless cultivar. The effort can be support to increase fruit productivity by using mulch, because it have power to give some benefits, those are to decrease water supply, mulch to be able to diminish land surface evaporation, to reduce land temperatur fluctuation, to lessen human resources and budget for weed preventing etc. The objective of the research was to know the difference seedless watermelon production by using several kinds of mulch (straw, alang-alang, and silver black plastic). It was implemented in April up to September 1998, at Jabon Mekar, Parung, Bogor. A randomized complete design was applied with four treatments and each of which with three replications. The data collected were then analyzed descriptively and statistically. The result of the research indicate that there were significant difference among seedless watermelon plant production by using mulch from straw, alang-alang, silver black plastic, and control (without mulch). Seedless watermelon plant with silver black mulch produced the most productivity and the fastest crop, which was followed by straw, alang-alang, and control.
