Isi artikelEconimists occasionally come in pairs- father and son, husband and wife-but, in foursomes, hardly ever. A notable exception is the family headed by Dr. Robert Aaron Gordon of the University of California. The Gordons are such a rarity that a colleague calls them the economic counterpart to the circus renowned troupe of aerialists, The Flying Wallendas. Dr. Gordon, his wife, Margaret, andtheir sons, Robert J. and David M., are all economists, alumni of Harvard University, holders of doctorates, independent and sometimes sharply different in their outlook, known and respected in their profession. The zest and vigor with which they pursue their careers may, among other things, help dispel some lingering views of economics as the dismal science.
