The elimination of poverty has been the focus of the Indonesian government since 1990. It was identified that the number of Indonesians considered to be poor as approximately 27.2 million people. The Indonesian government's effort was realized through the implementation of the "Inpres Desa Tertinggal" (IDT) Project aimed at helping indigent villages to increase their productivity. It seemed that the success of the program was determined by whether the mediator (Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat) functioned properly as advisor and motivator for the villagers wanting to change.
