The control of electical power system of operation is a highly complex task. The goals to be achieved are to provide the balance between generating electricity and its load with minimum cost requirement and maximum effort in order to fulfill operational impedement as well as to anticipate uncertainty or to maintain security. The definition of security within the context of electrical power system of operation was discussed in this article. Also discussed here was the role of mathematics in estimating security, which is still in the research stage.
