The current development of television in Indonesia is not consistent with its design. Originally, Indonesian television was designed to have an educative-informative function. It was also meant to function as an aid in defining the design of the national culture. The domination of television for entertainment purposes is an indication of the existence of other components as an integral part of the television system. This article attempts to analize the dynamics of Indonesian television. It was founded that economic factors has more influence on the development of how the television system works than educational factors. This along with political regulation has widen both empirical and media reality. It seems that the economic system has been the most dominating determinant of the dynamics of television in presenting its culture through mass preference.
