One of the main characteristics of distance learning system is the physical separation between student and lecturer. It is necessary for any distance learning university to create interactive media which are able to facilitate interactive learning process of its students. It is also important to consider that each learning medium has different characteristics. With its capability to facilitate immediate feedback to its users, computer offers a promising alternative to be implemented as an interactive medium for distance learning institution in Indonesia. At present, the implementation of computer mediated communication in Inodnesia is still facing two major constraints such as limited infrastructure and capable human resources.
