Isi artikel
U.S. managers are becoming increasingly aware of the tangible corporate dividends that can result when workers are given broader responsibility, encouraged to contribute to their organizations, and helped to gain satisfaction from their work-what the author terms "the commitment strategy." He contrasts this approach with the traditional "control strategy" and discusses the key challenges in moving from the latter to the former. Richard E. Walton is professor of business administration at the Harvard Business School and an authority on issues related to work force management.
