Sir W. Arthur Lewis is a professor of political economy at Princeton University. He formerly taught economcis at the London School of Economics and the University of Manchester in Britain, and he was vice-chancellor of the University of the West Indies. He has also served as deputy managing director of the United Nations Special Fund, as president of the Caribbean Development Bank, and as an adviser to organizations in several countries.
