The important steps that the United States is taking to minimize its dependence on foreign energy supplies, the role of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and the Reagan Administration's views on nuclear power and synthetic fuels are among the subjects discussed by a high official of the U.S. Department of Energy in this interview conducted by Stewart W. Ramsey, Economic Impact's editor-in-chief. Danny J. Boggs became Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy in 1983. A lawyer, Mr. Boggs had extensive previous service with the U.S. Government, including advisory positions with the Office of the President, assistant to the chairman of the Federal Power Commission, deputy minority counsel for the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States.
