Isi artikel
An economist with the largest American labor group, the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), discusses the responses the American trade union movement is making to its various economic, demographic, and other challenges, including the prospect for closer cooperation with other trade unions in the international sphere. The interview was conducted by Richard Riecken, senior editor of Economic Impact. Henry B. Schechter has been deputy director of the Department of Economic Research and director of the Office of Housing and Monetary Policy with the AFL-CIO since 1974. He earlier held positions with a number of U.S. Government agencies, including the Department of Commerce, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Library of Congress.
